Are you possibly feeling down on your luck? Perhaps you thought some sort of good luck charm would do the trick? If so, you’ve probably found that your Rabbit’s foot or four-leaf-clover aren’t doing the trick. That’s because the best way to become lucky is not to go in search of luck, but to strive for good fortune.

There is a key difference between luck and fortune — luck you have no control over while being fortunate means you had a hand in creating your own lucky destiny.

At fine Italian luxury brand Elmo & Montegrappa S.p.A., better known as “Montegrappa”, it is believed that “Luck is indubitably linked to virtue.”

Montegrappa exemplified this Company ethos with the creation of their “Fortuna Credo” collection of fine fountain, rollerball, and ballpoint pens.

Drawing from their rich Italian heritage, Montegrappa named the collection after Fortuna, the Roman goddess of Fortune (an ancient version of modern-day Lady Luck).

Fortuna, the Roman goddess of Fortune

Fortuna was oftentimes depicted with a wheel of fortune; inherently linking her identity to chance.

Fortuna with wheel of fortune

Despite the randomness associated with the wheel of fortune, for the ancient Romans, chance events that happened to an individual were inherently tied to virtus, or strength of character.

It was believed that if you had a strong character (something you have control over), good fortune would be invited into your life.

Montegrappa believes that paired with strong character, “Education is the foundation onto which an individual develops and nurtures his or her innate talents.”

Even in today’s technology-saturated world, writing, and the personalization that comes with writing by hand is an indispensable part of one’s education.

With this in mind, Montegrappa produces their fine writing instruments for those who still take pleasure in the time and care put into this age-old activity.

This group includes well-known figures such as Silvester Stalone, Naomi Campbell, Vladimir Putin, and Quincy Jones to name a few.

The “Fortuna Credo” collection, much like other collections created by Montegrappa, feature designs engrained with a strong religious sentiment.

For instance, the “Fortuna Credo Girih” pen’s gorgeous design is a nod to patterning found in traditional Islamic design.

In Persian, “Girih” means “knot”, and the Girih motif is used to further enhance the geometric agenda seen throughout art and architecture in the Islamic world.

The pen’s pattern consists of geometric lines that create an interlaced network; a complex web of straight-edged shapes that form stars separated by polygons, creating perfectly symmetrical balance in the pen’s design.

Not only does this pen boast a highly visually appealing pattern, but it is masterfully crafted.

It is offered exclusively in laser-etched black resin, with trim finished in palladium.

For the fountain pen, the pen’s octagon-based filigree covers the nib, while an eye-catching blue stone produces a radiant focal point for the observer.

This fine writing instrument is available in the previously mentioned fountain style, or as a roller ball or ballpoint.

Two other fantastic designs from the “Fortuna Credo” collection are the “Fortuna Credo Padre Nuestro” and “Fortuna Credo Pater Noster” pens.

Padre Nuestro” and “Pater Noster” are respectively the Spanish and Latin names for “The Lord’s Prayer.”

“The Lord’s Prayer” is the most important prayer in the Christian faith, and is used by most Christian churches in their worship.

According to The Bible, it was given to the disciples by Jesus Christ after they asked that he teach them to pray.

Two versions of this prayer are recorded in the gospels: a longer form within the Gospel of Matthew, and a shorter version in the Gospel of Luke.

The Padre Nuestro pen is offered exclusively in blue resin engraved with the prayer in Spanish, with an olive branch to symbolize peace.

The pen is further accented with a silvery palladium trim and glistening zircon crystals.

The cap is decorated with the Christogram IHS (iota-eta-sigma): a Latin monogram that symbolizes Jesus Christ.

The Pater Noster pen is identical to the Padre Nuestro pen, except the resin is black, and the “Lord’s Prayer” is engraved in Latin. Both designs are available as a fountain, roller ball, or ballpoint pen.
